| How much
netting do I need? As you stretch the netting to increase its height, the "diamonds" become taller and thinner, reducing the the overall length of the netting. To ensure that you have an adequate length of netting: 1. Determine the height of your installation. 2. Select the appropriate multiplier from the chart below. 3. Multiply the length of your installation by the multiplier. 4. Add 10% for error. 5. Purchase this length of netting. Example: Installation is 19"H x 22'L 22' x 1.2 = 26.4' + 2.6' (10%) = 29' Purchase 29' feet of netting.
How do I install the netting? First, select one of the attachment methods below. Do not cut the netting before you have completed the installation. Begin at one end and attach the top. Then attach the bottom. Secure one end, then then other. Then cut off the excess netting, preferably with a heat cut made with a rope knife, butane torch, or lighter. A knife or scissors can also be used. Plastic Ring Clips Plastic ring clips ensure a professional-looking installation. They are sold in bags of 50. You need 1 bag of 50 clips for each 5' of netting. Use one clip per diamond, top, bottom and ends. Wire Ties You can use adjustable, permanent nylon cable ties. Use one tie per diamond, top, bottom and ends. Cut away the excess length of cable. Utility Line Use small diameter (1/16" or 3-4mm) braided polyester or other synthetic utility line. Attach the netting at the top by weaving the line through each diamond and around the lifeline. Attach the bottom by weaving the line through each diamond and through toe rail holes, stanchion bases, eye straps, eyebolts or other hardware. Secure ends. Lifeline Threading You can detach your lifeline and thread it through the diamonds to secure the top of the netting, then use line threaded through the toe rail or other attachment points to secure the bottom and ends. |
